I painted this for my Grandparents, as a Christmas gift this year. Very Oklahoma, with the bright light, blue skies, the orange of the trees reflected in the grasses. Acrylic (used as watercolours, and as thicker media) on 11" x 15" watercolour paper.
Lovely painting. That blue sky makes it all feel very fresh, but the orange is also warm. Makes me wish it wasn't so dark and dismal outside at the moment!
Thanks! Glad you like it! Thankfully, my Grandparents liked it too... their only complaint was I didn't sign it visibly on the front (I signed it discreetly on the back.)
I'm not saying I'm not crazy, but seriously look at what you have going on here! it's all dynamic and layered and ALIVE, all in blue and orange, basically. The way it alternates between liquid and thicker paint is just killing me. It's like you painted air itself into it.
The second I saw this I knew you'd done it. You have a real style to your painting. It's amazing to think back to when I met you online for the first time and you were doing cartoony comics. And I thought THAT was your style. And now THIS is your style.
Strange how quickly time goes by, isn't it? I'm sure things will change, and change, and change again before either of us are through... But, it's lovely to hear that you recognised it as mine. That's really cool.
ha wow, that's awesome! You're an amazing grandchild and you have very lucky grandparents! I don't even know where to start with this, it's ace, well done!!
